This is a tumblelog, kinda like a blog but with short-form, mixed-media posts with stuff I like. Scroll down a bit to start reading, or a bit more to read more about me.
what my parents told me: you can do anything if you set your mind to it
what I wish my parents had told me: sometimes you will fail, and it will be scary and it will suck, but you will probably not die
I would also have appreciated: the fact that you can do something if you try very, very hard, does not actually obligate you to spend your life putting forth maximum effort to achieve it. It is okay to not be 1000% driven by life-consuming ambition and instead be satisfied with something less difficult.
tbh when Jameela Jamil was calling these celebrities the fuck out and she said “How much money do you need? Really how much money do you need? How much money do any of these huge influencers who are worth millions or billions sometimes… How much more?” i felt that in my bones
When she called the Kardashians “double agents for the patriachry” for profiting off a patriarchal narrative and selling women self consciousness, I felt that on a spiritual level.
fosters home for imaginary friends was an awful dystopia and no one talks about it at all
just a few things established in the fosters universe
imaginary friends are sentient people and everyone can see them
8 years old is considered too old to have an imaginary friend
a large amount of imaginary friends get thrown out on the street legally. At several points they talk about how they had nowhere to go and just wandered around. In Good Wilt Hunting you see a neighborhood full of imaginary friends that live on the street
this is such an issue there’s shelter(s). there’s absolutely political debates about this.
imaginary friends have rights, but not the same rights as humans (they can hold jobs and need passports and such but they can be confiscated/held as property and apparently killed without any legal issues)
babies imagine abstract, swarming friends, kids imagine normal friends, anyone older tends towards violent monsters that have to be locked up to keep them from attacking people
at one point, someone imagines a friend and eats it because they’re hungry
me throwing ‘hand wash ONLY’ vintage textiles and forever 21 garments with no care instructions into the same heavy-duty washing machine with the rest of my unsorted laundry knowing that my choices dont matter and no matter what one will come out looking brand new and the other will come out looking like its already been digested by a rottweiler
I’m not sure where I fall on the “swans are evil” debate, but I kinda like this one.
This one is PARTICULARLY concerning because there is a distinct possibility that it KNOWS what the sign says and is trying to remove it in order to attract more victims.
